Contribution to my Learning and the Learning Community
Numerical Score: 98

Throughout this course, I have been intentional about showing up as both a committed learner and an active member of the learning community. Based on my engagement, quality of work, and contributions to others, I believe a self-assessment score of 98 accurately reflects my performance. In this rationale, I will highlight what is working, areas where I can still improve, and how I contributed to my own learning and to my colleagues' learning.
Key Contributions to My Learning

One of the strongest parts of my participation in this course has been my consistency and follow-through. I completed all course readings, videos, and supporting resources, which allowed me to fully engage in discussions and assignments from an informed perspective. Because I stayed current with the content, I was able to connect theory to practice, especially in my major projects:

I also met all course activity deadlines listed in the calendar. Submitting work on time was not just about compliance; it ensured my peers could read, respond, and benefit from my posts. This made it easier for our base group and the larger class community to maintain momentum.

Another key area of growth was my willingness to revise assignments based on feedback and then reflect on those revisions. Rather than seeing feedback as criticism, I used it as a roadmap. I revisited instructions more closely, tightened my alignment between outcomes, activities, and assessments, and clarified my language so that my projects were more usable and actionable. This revision process significantly strengthened my final products and deepened my understanding of the design frameworks we studied.

At the same time, I recognize there is room to improve. To perform even better on future projects, I can start drafting earlier and build in more time for peer review before the official due date. While I met deadlines consistently, I know that giving myself more “thinking space” in between drafts would allow for deeper refinement, especially around visual design, accessibility, and data collection plans. I also want to push myself to incorporate a wider range of research sources earlier in the design stages rather than layering them in at the end.
Contributions to the Learning Community

My learning was not isolated; it was tightly connected to my base group community, which included:

-
Angela Speck
-
Tytiunna Goode
-
Courtney Kemp
We collaborated almost daily via GroupMe, sharing reminders, questions, resources, and encouragement. I contributed by checking in regularly, clarifying expectations when someone was unsure, and offering feedback on ideas, drafts, and directions. This constant communication helped us stay accountable and feel less alone in a fast-paced program.

I actively participated in all required activities and forums. I posted in a timely fashion so that classmates had time to read and respond, and I engaged with their work, not just my own. My discussion posts were designed to show both breadth and depth of thinking; I intentionally grounded my ideas in course readings and outside research and used APA citations to support my points. In addition to research-based posts, I also offered informal, supportive replies that were meant to build connection and normalize the challenges we were all facing.

I also took leadership responsibility within my base group, helping to interpret assignment expectations, share models, and sometimes “go first” so others could see examples before submitting their own work. This leadership role pushed me to be clearer, more organized, and more transparent about my own process, ultimately strengthening my learning.
What I Can Do Better Moving Forward

Looking ahead, I see a few specific areas for improvement:

-
Deepening the sophistication of my projects by pushing beyond “meeting the rubric” toward creating artifacts that are publishable or directly implementable on my campus.
-
Building in more iterative feedback cycles, not just revising once, but revisiting key projects multiple times from different lenses.
-
Continuing to refine my time management, so I can spend more time polishing visual design, accessibility features, and data collection tools.
Overall, I believe my work in this course reflects a high level of commitment, follow-through, and contribution to both my own learning and the learning community. For these reasons, I feel that a self-assessment score of 98 is justified and aligned with the expectations outlined in the self-assessment marking guide.
